I just need a place to be accountable again, as i have been struggling with this a lot recently. Anxiety has been through the roof, and alcohol was the only way to calm it... I'm hoping to work through it and sit through it more and reduce the dependence on alcohol as a coping mechanism. I know it won't be easy, but i know it will be worth it. Just need to take it a day at a time.

If anyone wants to join me, it'd be great to support one another... Otherwise i'll just be using this to track my progress... the ups and the downs... and would really appreciate some words of wisdom/ support in the process ❤

After a week of drinking every day (up to 10 drinks a day :o) i had a free day yesterday. It was hard and i was so tempted to buy a bottle of something... but i made it through... kept busy with jobs around the house and tv series... hoping to do the same today and need to work on some essays for uni... anxiety is already high... but hoping i can sit through it

Nook, I am sure you will be able to manage your alcohol consumption better! :) I believe in you as I have seen you fighting on other fronts and you are winning your fights one by one. Good luck and good spirits for you!

I will come here and post how I am doing from time to time. :)

So far I have been doing ok this year with alcohol. But it is the usual problem: if I have booze at home I drink it. Bottles never last long. If I am offered drinks I take them even when I don't really want them...

I will try to not buy alcohol often. Having said that: bought a bottle of vodka yesterday :P

But this year I mainly stuck to wine so far, which is actually safer than vodka in terms of drunkenness. But has more calories, that's why I chose vodka over wine yesterday...

Thank you so much for your support :) and so glad things have been a bit better for you in this regard. Hope you can keep making good progress for yourself.

Yesterday was tough, but i made it through with the things i had planned. Pretty much have the same things planned today, and an appointment with my surgeon this afternoon (so won't drink before that)... so hopefully can get through another day :)

^Good luck for getting today free and all the best for the appointment with the surgeon.

Result of the past week: Monday about half a bottle of white wine at a family dinner.
Saturday about 3 double vodkas, at home, alone.
The other days were free, including today.

Good work and good luck to both of you!! I'm managing to only drink once or twice a month, but that is because I know live with my mother in law (who doesn't drink) and there's a "no alcohol in the house rule". My Hubby goes out and drinks w/ his friends on occasion, but that's ok cuz he's not an alcoholic. If I were to ever drink w/ her knowledge, things wouldn't go well! So I've been staying sober, left w/ cigs as my last coping mechanism. I know that this living arrangement is good, but damn, I would love to be able to freaking drink like an adult in my own home. But that's the addiction talking to me!

^That is really good that you drink so rarely. You can be proud of that. Living under circumstances that inhibit the opportunities to drink is good when booze is a problem . I definitely understand the feeling of wanting to be able to drink when you want though like most other adults. Great work that you notice though what is behind that thought. :)

5.6 drinks again yesterday... "celebrating" submitting my essays and then dealing with anxiety...

Today WILL be free though! Aiming for a free weekend too.

Well done.

One double vodka yesterday. Bottle empty now and no other booze in the house. So weekend should be free.
